What can I store with you?

You can store anything... within reason! We have multiple different unit sizes available to suit your requirements.

We have certain items that you cannot store with us, these include:

  • Aerosols
  • Explosives
  • Firearms or ammunition
  • Radioactive goods
  • Perishable goods
  • Gas canisters
  • Illegal goods
  • Hazardous or toxic goods
  • Livestock of plants
  • Pollutants, contaminated goods or waste

What are your opening hours?

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm / Saturday 9:00am - 4:00pm / Sunday 9:00am - 2:00pm.

Out of hours visiting is available via appointment only, contact us for more details.

Do I need my own padlock?

Yes, you need your own padlock to ensure that you are the sole and only key holder for your self storage unit to keep your unit securely locked.

We do hold a range of secure padlocks that can be purchased should you require one.

Can I change my unit size?

Yes - we appreciate that your circumstances can frequently change. We have a variety of unit sizes and if one is more suitable than the other we can amend your contract to suit.

How much does storage cost?

We have multiple unit sizes available with prices starting from as little as £7.50 per week.

When do I pay for my unit?

We are able to take card payments on site, and accept all major debit and credit cards.

Payment method, payment date and frequency will be agreed upon signing your contract. Payment must be made in GBP (£).

How do you verify my identity?

Two forms of ID are required (one of which must be a photo ID such as a passport or driving license) and a utility bill less than 3 months old.

You must provide original documents, not photocopies.

Will I be in a fixed term contract?

No - we have rolling contracts available which means your payments are ongoing until we are informed otherwise. If you have paid in advance, refunds may be given where applicable.

What is the minimal rental period?

You can store for as long or as little as you need, there is no minimum rental period.

How secure are my belongings?

Very! We have 24 hour CCTV with vehicle registration technology and individually PIN-controlled access.

All units are to be individually padlocked by the tenant, no keys will be kept by Britannia Self Storage. During closed hours, along with the CCTV the entire site is gated, locked and alarmed.

How quickly can I move in?

You can move in on the same day as you make your enquiry (during normal opening hours) providing that you have the relevant documentation needed to complete and sign your contract.

Do you have trolleys or forklifts available?

Yes, we have trolleys and pallet trucks available free of charge for our customers to use.

We also have forklifts available which can be operated on your behalf by one of the Britannia Self Storage team.

When I move out, what do I need to do?

You are required to give us 14 days notice in writing of your required end date.

We understand that circumstances often change, so we would appreciate you notifying us as soon as you possibly can if the end date falls within the 14 day notice period.
On the day of the termination of your contract, you must remove all contents of the storage unit and leave the unit in the same condition it was in at the start of your rental agreement.

Are my items insured?

You are responsible for insuring your items. Some home insurance providers do cover storage units, as long as you make them aware that your personal belongings have been taken out of your property into a storage unit. We advice you contact your insurance provider first. If you require insurance, we would recommend visiting www.insurastore.com.

How is access to the rooms controlled?

We offer PIN-controlled access doors that lead to the self storage rooms and you need a personal security number to access these doors. This also means that you don’t need to call in advance to access your room.

How often can I visit my storage room?

Once you are set up on the security system you can come and go as often as you like – access is free and unlimited and you have complete control over moving the items to and from your room.

Is it complicated to set up a contract?

No – it just takes 5 minutes and you are taken through it by one of our team. On move in day there’s just a few things you need to bring with you, and when you contact us our team will take you through what you need to bring.
